UPCOMING SCHEDULE:
Saturday, February 22 & Sunday, February 23, 2025 ICE BREAKER 30 WEEKEND
Abbottstown, PA (October 20, 2024) โ Lincoln Speedway’s Final 50 delivered an unforgettable night of racing, with Brent Marks securing the $15,000 top prize after a hard-fought battle plus the $5,000 bonus for leading at lap 25. The highly anticipated event saw intense action and lead changes as the drivers navigated lapped traffic and vied for positions throughout the race.
The 50-lap feature kicked off with Matt Campbell grabbing the early lead after a strong start on the high side, overtaking Brent Marks, who led the field into turn 1. Behind them, Chase Dietz and Jacob Allen locked into a duel for third, with Allen initially holding the position. As the laps clicked off, Allen put pressure on Marks for second while Dietz closed in. Dietz made his move on lap 5, overtaking Allen for third on the backstretch.
Anthony Macri quickly entered the fray, taking fifth from Devon Borden on lap 6 and then setting his sights on the front runners. Campbell faced lapped traffic early, with three lapped cars separating him from Marks before Marks also caught the slower cars. Macri continued his charge, overtaking Allen for fourth on lap 10.
As Campbell battled to clear lapped traffic, Marks closed the gap. The pair raced through the slower cars, with Marks testing the bottom of the track but sticking to the top after seeing Dietz close in. By lap 22, Macri had climbed to third, challenging Dietz for position. Dietz hit the wall while trying to reclaim the spot, bringing out the caution.
On the restart, Marks pounced, taking the lead from Campbell just before the scheduled halfway break. The running order for the restart after the break was Marks, Campbell, Macri, Freddie Rahmer, and Troy Wagaman, who moved into fifth after Jacob Allen was penalized for passing before the cone. Marks earned a $5,000 bonus for leading at the break, Campbell took home a $2,000 bonus, Macri scored an extra $1,500, Rahmerโs share was $1,000 and Wagamanโs was $500.
When racing resumed, Macri made his move into second and began to challenge Marks for the lead. Meanwhile, Rahmer and Campbell fiercely battled for third, with Campbell holding off Rahmer’s slider attempt. As the leaders worked through lapped traffic again on lap 34, the top threeโMarks, Macri, and Campbellโstuck to the high side, keeping the fans on the edge of their seats.
Macri began experimenting with the low line, gaining ground on Marks as the laps wound down. However, Marks held steady, maintaining his advantage and crossing the finish line first to claim the $15,000 victory. Macri finished a close second, followed by Campbell in third, Rahmer in fourth, and Wagaman rounding out the top five.
With his fifth place finish, Troy Wagaman secured his first Lincoln Speedway Track Championship. Wagamanโs mechanic, Ben Engle, was awarded the 2024 Mechanic of the Year honors. The 2024 Rookie of the Year was Kody Hartlaub. Aaron Bollinger received the Most Improved Driver Award. The 2024 Harry Fletcher Sportsmanship Award was given to Chad Trout.
Rumsey Claims Victory to Close Out Season at Lincoln Speedway; Steve Owings Claims Third Track Championship
The 358 sprint car feature saw Logan Rumsey take the checkered flag after a fierce battle for the lead, marking an exciting conclusion to Lincolnโs 2024 season. The race was filled with intense competition and bold moves, making for an unforgettable evening.
Preston Lattomus led the field into turn 1, holding off Rumsey to lead the opening lap. However, the race was quickly halted by a red flag after Cody Fletcher took a wild tumble in turn 3. Thankfully, Fletcher walked away from the crash uninjured.
When racing resumed, Lattomus continued to pace the field, with Rumsey in tow. The top five on the restart were Lattomus, Rumsey, Wyatt Hinkle, Matt Findley, and Frankie Herr. Doug Hammaker, battling for the season championship, quickly moved into the top five, while Jayden Wolf, another title contender, lurked just behind in sixth.
The caution flag flew at the halfway point for debris in turn 3, setting up another crucial restart. The top five at that point were Lattomus, Rumsey, Hinkle, Findley, and Hammaker. When the green flag dropped, Rumsey began his assault on the lead, going wheel-to-wheel with Lattomus as they crossed the line on lap 11. Rumsey finally powered ahead on lap 12, taking over the top spot.
Lattomus stayed close, attempting to reclaim the lead, but Rumsey began to pull away as the laps wound down. Meanwhile, Hammaker continued his charge, moving up to fourth and keeping his championship hopes alive. Despite Lattomus’ efforts to close the gap, Rumsey was unstoppable, cruising to the victory.
Steve Owings claimed his third track championship in the 358 sprint car division with his tenth place finish.
