Abbottstown, PA (June 22, 2024) – After inheriting the lead after a yellow with 9 laps to go Anthony Macri scored his first win of the week, “I put us behind the 8-ball on Friday.” After a rough start to Speedweek Macri and his team haven’t lost sight of defending the 2023 Speedweek Champion Title, “I told these guys the week wasn’t over and I wasn’t going to quit and I know they’re not going to quit. I feel like this is the turn around point for the week.”

Once Macri took the lead it was all she wrote, “Clean air is very important, When you can’t get clean air on your wing it makes it very difficult.”

The cars lined up in the front row, Kody Hartlaub and Matt Campbell, were both looking for their first Speedweek win when the green flag dropped. Devon Borden, challenged Hartlaub for the lead with Hartlaub coming out on top to lead lap 1. Hartlaub used the bottom of the track and Borden opted for the top as they raced for the lead. Anthony Macri moved into third.

Hartlaub and Borden continued to battle for the lead and swapped the top spot and second back and forth nearly every lap. Borden finally got the advantage at the line by half a car length on lap four.

Macri got under Hartlaub to move into second which left Hartlaub to fend off a challenge from Matt Campbel for third. Campbell took over third on lap 8 as Borden was closing in on the tail end of the field.

Borden was in heavy lapped traffic as two cars battled side by side in front of him which allowed Macri to reel him in. Hartlaub moved back into third. Macri tracked down Borden just past the halfway point to challenge for the lead and the two were nearly wheel to wheel at the line on lap 19.

The one and only caution of the race came on lap 21 when Cameron Smith did a 360 spin. During the caution Borden was penalized two spots due to an infraction on the initial start of the race. Officials deemed that Borden was not nose to tail as Hartlaub crossed the chalk line. That gave Macri the lead and sent Borden back to third.

Borden went to the top to go after Hartlaub for second on the restart and had it, but Kody stayed on the bottom in turns 3 and 4 and reclaimed it before the flagstand.

Borden and Hartlaub continued to battle hard for second with Borden taking the runner up spot on lap 23.

Macri was pulling away from the field in clean air as the laps wound down and Hartlaub was holding off World of Outlaws driver, Logan Schuchart.

Macri got to the checkered flag 2.875 seconds ahead of Borden. Hartlaub held onto third and Schuchart was fourth. Troy Wagaman completed the top five.
